The tractor was engineered at the Polish-Czechoslovak R&D Center for Tractors in Brno, then manufactured at the ZM Ursus plant in Poland from 1984 to 2009. A total of 4857 units were produced, with many still in operation on Polish farms and in other countries, albeit in smaller numbers.
